As to other news... please look out for the beautiful garden that the Connaught children have planted. They dug, prepared the beds, planted seeds and annual plants and are gradually enhancing the school’s entrance on Sherbrooke. Their efforts are worthy of a gold in anyone’s gardening competition....and they have learned a lot “hands on.”
So much of what we do is just that, hands on....our ecology/biology theme for the month has now evolved into farming. We’ve made some pretty spiffy barns!!! Sounds like fun? Have any questions? Like....
Who are we? A local non sectarian bilingual nursery with a history of over 45 years.
What makes us special? Easy question that....your children.
Where? In the bright, clean and airy hall of St. Philip’s Church
When? From early September to early June, Monday to Fridays mornings only.
How do we work? As a Co-operative. We are creative, friendly and diverse!
Call, surf or visit...514-992-2102, www.connaughtnursery.org, St. Philip’s Church Hall Sherbrooke at Connaught! Be well, enjoy your summer, and don’t forget the sun block!

Connaught Nursery News
( Feb 2007)
Winter is a challenge for many...not least of all is the challenge of finding ways to stay fit and have fun despite the cold. Too often good intentions are sidetracked by the ordeal of getting appropriately dressed. Hats mitts and scarves, snowpants and zippers are difficult to handle when you are just three or four. Our Connaught children have been practicing their skills and solidifying their snow bound first steps towards independence...but getting dressed and undressed oneself is only part of the Canadian experience...they have been finding healthy and fun ways to beat those winter blues by developing their skating prowess as well. Aiden DeJean, Mlle Marie-Claire and Melanie McQuire have guaranteed the Montreal Canadians (and the Ice Capades) future stars...and we all know the Habs need them!
Skating, French, magicians, serpents, valentines, music...we’ve been and are up to it all... Excellent teacher/student ratios with laughter and games thrown in free of charge can’t be beat. Visit us sometime/anytime....just call 514-992-2102...Keep warm!

Innovative Bilingual Program: New French Teacher! Computers! Yoga! Music &
Gym Specialists! & LOTS of FUN!
The first days of school are now long behind us...and an experienced bunch
of happy faces greet us each day when school begins! The program is
exciting and enriched with new initiatives being developed by both

New Programs ~Traditional Goals
Our new bilingual format respects current early childhood education studies on second language acquisition in a nursery environment. It balances the aspirations of parents who wish to prepare their children for immersion and francophone kindergarten programs with the time-honoured socialization experience that is key to future success in school. “Big” words aside, our goal is to be a warm, secure and supportive home away from home. And I haven’t even referred to having FUN, our extensive selection of toys and all the CREATIVE mischief we get up to! We are also very pleased with our new
Computer Program that we began last year. Our computers are a wonderful teaching tool that expands our ability as teachers to expose the children to carefully prepared presentations, resource material and highly selective educational programming.
Check out our school we have tons of things happening this year... activities that include science, drama, dance, cooking and story telling, skating and more!
Cathy Cozens of Shanti Yoga is set to introduce the children to Yoga…and our children’s music specialist
Cordell Henebury is especially popular with all the children.
We have a wonderful group of families whose confidence in our 8:45-11:45 Monday- Friday program (with early drop off options) is great! If you are interested in Connaught please be sure to contact us, or join the 2007-2008 waiting list (only 10 spots currently vacant). The next OPEN HOUSE is November 8th. The 2007 registration is set for
Thursday February 1st 2007. Come visit! Call 514-992-2102, email: info@connaughtnursery.org, check out: www.connaughtnursery.org. Submitted by Penny Rankin Leonard |
